This Privacy Policy describes how Daily Enigma ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. Daily Enigma is built to be a privacy-first, offline-capable experience.
Information We Collect
1. Information you provide directly
You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use Daily Enigma. However, we collect specific information if you choose to use certain community features:
- Community Vault Submissions: If you submit a riddle to be featured in the app, we collect the riddle text, the answer, and the optional social media handle (e.g., @username) you provide to credit you.
2. Information automatically collected
- Device information: Operating system version and app version.
- Purchase information: Subscription and payment data processed securely through RevenueCat and Apple’s payment systems. We never see or store your credit card details.
- Error and performance data: Anonymous technical information about app crashes (handled natively via Apple’s opt-in analytics).
3. Information stored locally on your device
The vast majority of your data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Your daily guess history and puzzle progress.
- Your unlocked Enigma Pro Archive status.
- Your current stage in the Weekend Gauntlets.
How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service delivery: To credit you publicly if your riddle is selected from the Community Vault.
- Subscription management: To process and manage your Enigma Pro premium subscription.
- App improvement: To identify and fix technical issues and bugs via anonymous crash logs.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may collect information to keep the app running:
RevenueCat
Purpose: Subscription and payment processing.
Data shared: Anonymous User Identifier, purchase information, and subscription status.

Apple App Store
Purpose: Payment processing for subscriptions and anonymous crash analytics.
Data shared: Payment information and purchase history (handled directly and securely by Apple).
Data Retention
- Community Vault data: We retain your submitted riddles and social handles indefinitely for use in the app, unless you request deletion.
- Local data: Data stored on your device remains until you uninstall the app or clear the app’s data.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure APIs for the Community Vault and relying on Apple’s encrypted payment processing. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access & Deletion: Request access to or deletion of the Community Vault riddles and social handles you have submitted to us.
- Opt-out: You can opt out of Apple’s anonymous crash reporting directly through your iOS device settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements).
Children’s Privacy
The App is safe for all ages (rated 4+ on the App Store). However, the Community Vault submission feature is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information or social handles from children.
Push Notifications
The app uses local push notifications to alert you when the Vault opens with a new daily riddle. These notifications are:
- Scheduled locally directly on your device.
- Completely optional and can be disabled at any time through iOS settings.
- Never used to send marketing messages, spam, or advertisements.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
European Users (GDPR)
As we are committed to global privacy standards, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify, or erase any personal data you have submitted to us (such as your social handle in the Community Vault), as well as the right to restrict or object to processing.
